BackgroundArdent Gallery was first established in Brecon in 2004 at its current location on The Bulwark in Brecon town centre. Originally called A Frame Gallery, the business was founded in Bicester, Oxfordshire in 1996 as a picture framing business. Owners Ian and Clare Dent moved to Brecon in 2003 (whilst Clare was pregnant with their 2nd child) and immediately set about planning a new Gallery and establishing the picture framing business. Their nephew Marc Williams was the first member of staff for the new venture, quickly becoming expert in both picture framing and shopfitting. After opening at 4 The Bulwark the business grew quickly, adding artist materials by Winsor and Newton, to the framing and Gallery operation. Many local artists became part of the family business as it established itself within the Brecon community. High profile exhibitions, for Sue Howells and Paul Apps, and the annual Brecon Jazz helped propel the business forward and bring customers from further afield. |
